550th Birthday Celebrations: SGPC invites Yogi Aditya Nath for November 12’s main program

NEW DELHI, India—On October 25, the SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal invited the controversial Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Aditya Nath for attending the main program pertaining to the 550th birthday celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji to be held in Sultanpur Lodhi on November 12. Notably, the SGPC is hosting this main program of the birthday celebrations at Guru Nanak Stadium which is 100 meters away from Gurdwara Ber Sahib, in Sultanpur Lodhi.

It is pertinent to note here that the Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Aditya Nath is a radical Hindutva leader who keeps on inciting the Hindu majority of India against the minorities with his venomous statements. His hateful speeches against the Muslims often keep on surfacing over social media.

The decision to invite such a hate-mongering element on this historic occasion might bring the SGPC under fire.

Beside it, the SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal also gave an invitation to the Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for attending this program. Arvind Kejriwal has congratulated the Sikh community on this historic eve and has promised to attend the main program of birthday celebrations on November 12.

It is noteworthy here that the SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal is inviting prominent political personalities of India to attend the main program to be held at Gurdwara Sri Ber Sahib (Sultanpur Lodhi) on November 12 in commemoration of the 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Till date, he has invited the India’s PM Narendra Modi and chief ministers of several other states.

Recently, he had invited the Punjab governor V.P. Singh Badnore on October 24.
