Mohinder Pal Bittu’s Murder: Police remand of five Sikh youths extended for two days

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Five Sikh youths namely Bhai Gursewak Singh, Bhai Maninder Singh, Bhai Lakhvir Singh, Bhai Harpreet Singh and Bhai Jaspreet Singh, who have been indicted in the murder case of sacrilege culprit Mohinder Pal Bittu, were today produced before the sessions court.

After hearing the arguments of prosecution and defense, the Court extended police remand of these Sikh youths for a further two days.

It may be recalled here that the Sirsa cult affiliated sacrilege culprit Mohinder Pal Bittu was killed in Nabha jail by two Sikh youths namely Bhai Gursewak Singh and Bhai Maninder Singh on June 22. Later, the SIT constituted to crack this murder case had arrested several other Sikh youths and three of them are still on police remand.

In June last year, the Punjab police’s Special Investigation Team had held more than 10 Sirsa disciples while investigating the sacrilege incidents occurred in 2015. During the investigation, it had come to fore that the Sirsa cult’s state committee member Mohinder Pal Bittu had orchestrated the plan to steal the holy corpus of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji from Burj Jawahar Singh Wala and then hurt the Sikh sentiments by scattering sacred ‘Angs’ in Bargari.
