Hate Crimes in United States: SGPC Asks Indian Ambassador To Ensure Safety of the Sikhs in America

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab: The Indian Ambassador to the United States of America (USA) Taranjit Singh Sandhu and his wife Reenat Sandhu who is secretary (west) in the Ministry of External Affairs today paid obeisance at Sri Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple).

On this occasion, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Jagir Kaur honoured him with Siropa (robe of honour) and his wife and gifted them some books related to the Sikh history at the Information Center of Sri Darbar Sahib and discussed with him the issues of Sikhs living in the USA.

She discussed with Taranjit Singh Sandhu the issue of racial attacks on Sikhs in the US.

Sandhu said that he was already working seriously on this issue and would continue to do so in the future.

Jagir Kaur said that it is a matter of happiness that the heir of Panthik leader Teja Singh Samundri’s family is representing Indian Union in the USA.

Sandhu thanked the SGPC president for the honour.

  1. Ms Jagir Kaur, SGPC head, besides the official channel as reported here, needs to thank Sikhs’ Rights groups like Sikh Coalition, United Sikhs etc who immediately rush to work at ground level to any incident that is reported to them, and redress them according to the US laws.
