Bhai Gurdeep Singh Khera Opposes Five Member Committee’s Decision of Staging Protest Outside Amritsar Jail

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Political Sikh prisoner Bhai Gurdeep Singh Khera, who is currently out on parole, has opposed the Five member committee’s announcement to stage sit-in-strike outside the Central Jail of Amritsar on February 20. He has said that only two Singhs including him are currently languishing in the Amritsar jail and the sit-in-strike outside the Amritsar jail might create problems for them.

It is noteworthy here that the five member committee appointed by the Sarbat Khalsa appointed Akal Takht Jathedar Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara had served an ultimatum to the Punjab government asking it to meet demands of the Bargari agitation by February 15 or remain ready to face Sikh wrath.

Bhai Gurdeep Singh Khera has said that the Jail administration is providing them every legitimate amenity and cooperates with them keeping in view their good conduct in the jail. “Our family members and other persons coming to meet us are allowed without any hindrance,” he said while adding that the Jail administration is continuously sending positive reports about their good conduct to the higher authorities.

Bhai Gurdeep Singh Khera said that the five member committee’s decision of staging sit-in-strike outside the Amritsar jail might create trouble for them. He suggested the committee members to stage sit-in-strike in front of those jails where the Jail administration doesn’t cooperate with the Sikh prisoners.
