BREAKING: Sikh Lawyer Denied Entry Into Indian Supreme Court for Wearing Kirpan

NEW DELHI, India—A Sikh lawyer named Amritpal Singh Khalsa today made a shocking revelation about the ongoing discrimination on the basis of religion in the apex court of world’s largest “democratic” country India. He told the media that he is harassed and humiliated daily by the security cops deployed at the entrance of Court room just for wearing Kirpan (a symbol of Sikh faith).

“Everyday I am humiliated, harassed because I am carrying Kirpan. Yesterday, I was denied entry due to it”, he said.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that Amritpal Singh Khalsa has shot a letter to the Chief Justice of India Mr. Ranjan Gogoi in which he has written that he was denied entry into the Court premises on February 6 because he was carrying the Kirpan, which was longer than six inches.

The letter also states that he had made a Right to Information (RTI) application seeking information on the size of Kirpan that is allowed inside Supreme Court. However, there is “no circular/date/information/judgment/order that permits/regulates the size” of the same.

Singh’s letter further states that it is a fundamental right to wear and carry the Kirpan, and that there is no rule/law regulating size of the same for entry into the Court. His letter ends with the request to issue directions to security personnel to allow followers of Sikh religion to carry a Kirpan inside the Court premises.
