SGPC Bans Photography Inside Sri Harmandir Sahib

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The apex Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee has imposed ban on photography and videography inside the sanctum sanctorum Sri Harmandir Sahib. Instruction boards in this concern have been installed inside the holiest Sikh shrine.

Sharing the development with media, the Manager of Sri Harmandir Sahib S. Jaswinder Singh Deenpur informed that the SGPC was forced to impose this ban as the pilgrims doesn’t even care about the code of conduct applicable inside Sri Harmandir Sahib while doing photography, videography or taking selfies with mobile cameras. “Any pilgrim violating the instruction will be stopped by the SGPC staff deployed inside Sri Harmandir Sahib” he added.

Meanwhile, it has come to fore that the media section has opposed the move as the photojournalists have to do photography whenever the dignitaries come to pay obeisance at the holiest Sikh shrine and on the eve of Gurpurab celebrations.
