SGPC Appeals Sikhs to Pray for Punishment to Genocide Perpetrators on January 10

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—In a written statement issued on January 6, the SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal has appealed the entire Sikh community offer prayers before the Almighty Lord on January 10 seeking punishment to the perpetrators of the 1984 Sikh genocide. All the worldwide Gurdwara authorities as well as the common Sikhs have been asked to offer prayers after “Nitnem” on January 10.

Longowal has said that the 1984 Sikh genocide is scripted as a peak of human rights abuses in the history, but it is unfortunate that the perpetrators of this inhuman carnage are still at large. “Guru Sahib has blessed the Sikhs with justice by bringing Sajjan Kumar and two others to justice after 34 years” he added.

It is noteworthy here that the SAD (Badal) dominating over SGPC has stuck in a chaos after conviction of Sajjan Kumar as the lawyer HS Phoolka got into the limelight. HS Phoolka, who is a staunch criticizer of SAD (Badal) dominance over the apex Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee, has recently announced to initiate the struggle for neutralizing the political influence on the SGPC.
