:dateline:After tendering a formal resignation to the Aam Admi Party few days back, the Bholath legislator Sukhpal Singh Khaira today announced the formation of a new political party named Punjabi Ekta Party(PEP) in Chandigarh. Six rebel AAP legislators namely Kanwar Sandhu, Nazar Singh Mansahis, Master Baldev Singh, Pirmal Singh, Jagdev Kamalu and Jaggga Jassowal were also accompanying him on this occasion.
Addressing the media, Khaira said that he has announced the formation of a new party after observing a vacuum in the Punjab politics due to falling graph of the Shiromani Akali Dal and AAP.
Accusing Captain Amarinder Singh and Badals of promoting nepotism and corruption in Punjab, Khaira said that Punjab was a prosperous state but got ruined by the traditional political parties due to their vested interests. �Saving farmers of the state who are committing suicides, protection of dying state industry, eradication of corruption and the constitution of Lok Pal will be our priorities� he said. �
Taking on Captain Amarinder Singh for miserably failing to deliver onto his big promises, Khaira said that Captain had made big promises of eliminating sand and drug mafia from the state but unfortunately he himself became part of the all scams that continued during SAD-BJP government. He said that unemployment was another field where Captain Amarinder Singh government failed miserably. He vowed to generate employment in the state for educated youths if voted to power.
It may be recalled here that Sukhpal Khaira was suspended from the AAP in November last year after he challenged Arvind Kejriwal’s decision to remove him from the post of Leader of Opposition. Kharar MLA Kanwar Sandhu was also suspended by the party.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that these rebel AAP legislators have said that they won�t resign from the Punjab assembly and has left it on the AAP leadership whether they unseat them or not. AAP has entangled in a tough situation because if it unseats these rebel legislators then it will lose the status of major opposition in the Punjab assembly.
