Shaheedi Jor Mela Begins at Chamkaur Sahib; Religious and Political Conferences Today

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The 314th Shaheedi Jor Mela commemorated to the martyrdom of elder Sahibzaades of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji started in Chamkaur Sahib on December 21. A large influx of Sikh devotees from all around the world was noticed with the beginning of this three day martyrdom festival.

Religious processions from different localities of Punjab continue to arrive in the historic town of Chamkaur Sahib where the local residents have set up “langars” (community kitchens) on roads for the devotees coming to pay obeisance at Gurdwara Katalgarh Sahib.

It is noteworthy here that robust arrangements are made by the District administration and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee every year for this annual martyrdom festival.

Like every year, the religious and political conferences would be organized today. It is learnt that Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh, SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal and Anandpur Sahib MP Prem Singh Chandumajra would address the religious congregation at the Gurdwara Katalgarh Sahib. The Shiromani Akali Dal (1920) and Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) would also hold conferences on the occasion.
