Alleged Grenade Hurler Avtar Singh Khalsa Arrested; Sent to Police Remand for 7 Days

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The Punjab DGP Suresh Arora today announced the arrest of Sikh youth Avtar Singh Khalsa, who is being accused of hurling a grenade on the Nirankari cult’s outlet in Amritsar on November 18. He claimed of recovering two pistols and 25 cartridges from Avtar Singh Khalsa.

Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh today, Arora claimed that a Pakistani citizen named Javed lured Avtar Singh Khalsa to commit the crime. He added that Avtar Singh was asked to obtain the weapons by digging a location near tree where they were buried by someone else. “Neither the duo accused nor the police knows who buried those weapons there” he said.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that police have secured 7 days remand of Avtar Singh Khalsa. The police demanded 14 days police remand from the Court of Duty Magistrate but the Court agreed for 7 days remand. Avtar Singh Khalsa will be reproduced before the Court on December 1.

The Police have also named another Sikh youth Paramjit Singh Khalsa alias Baba in this case. Paramjit Singh Khalsa is a resident of village Wadala (near Beas) who is living in Italy currently. His native village house was today searched by the Police under pretext of “search to recover the weapons”.
