Bollywood Actor Akshay Kumar Appears Before SIT

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Pentagenarian Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar appeared before the Special Investigation Team on November 21 in Chandigarh. Notably, Akshay Kumar was initially asked to appear before the SIT in Amritsar but later he was given relaxation to appear in Chandigarh.

Sources have informed that the SIT started grilling Akshay Kumar at around 09:45 am and his interrogation lasted for about two hours which was recorded visually. Akshay Kumar was questioned about mediating a meeting between Sukhbir Badal and Gurmeet Ram Rahim for securing the release of movie “Messenger of God” in Punjab.

On the condition of anonymity, an officer informed that Akshay Kumar asked the investigators to show evidence of the allegations against him and not to go by hearsay.

It may be recalled here that Akshay Kumar had earlier also tweeted that he didn’t ever meet the Sirsa cult chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim. “I am proud of being a Punjabi and have the highest regard for the Sikh faith. I shall never do anything that would even remotely hurt the sentiments of my Punjabi brothers and sisters, for whom I have utmost respect and love” he had tweeted.

The five-member SIT was set up by the Punjab government in September this year after withdrawing the investigation of the sacrilege incidents from the CBI.
