With the construction of this corridor, Sikhs residing in India will get visa-free access to Gurdwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib which has been a prominent demand of Sikhs from a long time.
The proposal for opening corridor to Gurdwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib had first come up in 2000 during the tenure of Parvez Musharraf in Pakistan.
Recently, the issue had come to limelight during Navjot Singh Sidhu’s visit to Pakistan in August this year. Initially, the Indian government had passed a negative gesture in this concern while accusing the Pakistan of promoting terror activities, but now it seems like the BJP has finally conjectured the Sikh sentiments.
