Punjab Government Likely to Accept Demands of Bargari Agitation in Coming Days

CHANDIGARH—As per the information availed by reliable sources, the Congress led Punjab government is ready to accept all the demands of Bargari agitation begun by the acting Akal Takht Jathedar Bhai Dhian Singh Mand. Sikh24 has learnt that the formal announcement by the Punjab government in this concern might come within few days.

Sources have informed that the Cabinet Ministers of Punjab had made an indication about this in a meeting with prominent Sikh leaders Simranjit Singh Mann, Bhai Mohkam Singh, Bhai Gurdeep Singh Bathinda etc. on August 17.

Sikh24 has been informed that the Punjab government might get active to implement the recommendations by the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission on August 24. Cabinet Ministers are expected to distribute the compensation checks to the victims of Behbal Klan and Kotkapura firing incidents at Bargari agitation in coming days.

It is learnt that the Punjab government has decided to take action against some senior Police cops and the leaders of Bargari agitation have agreed to conclude the agitation after the Punjab government takes action as per the recommendations by the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission.

Meanwhile, it has come to fore that the Commission’s report has held police officers Sumedh Saini, Paramraj Umranangal, Amar Singh Chahal, SS Mann, Charanjit Sharma, Raghbir Singh responsible for Kotkapura firing and has recommended their indictment under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC as none of them was seen using firearms.

Beside it, the Commission is also learnt to have pointed a finger at the then Chief Secretary Sarvesh Kaushal, Principal Secretary SK Sandhu and Special Principal Secretary Gaggandip Singh Brar as the then Faridkot DC exchanged 22 SMS with Brar, 21 SMS and eight calls with Sandhu and sent 23 SMS to Kaushal.
