Pakistan Deliberating to Allow Indian Sikhs to Pay Obeisance at Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib

:dateline:Interacting with media in Islamabad on August 18, the Local Bodies Minister of Punjab Navjot Singh Sidhu said that the Pakistan Army Chief General Bajwa has informed him that the Pakistan authorities were deliberating upon to allow Indian Sikhs to pay obeisance at Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib during 550th birth anniversary celebrations next year. Notably, Navjot Singh Sidhu is in Pakistan these days to attend the swearing in ceremony of Imran Khan as the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Delectable on hearing this, the former Indian Minister Manohar Singh Gill has said that he hopes the army chief would hold on to the promise. He added that it was also time for the Pakistan premier to take a step forward and earn goodwill of the Indian people.

Terming the Gurdwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib as Mecca for the Sikhs, Gill said the Muslims face no hindrances in going to Jerusalem, but even 70 years after Independence of India the Sikhs still cannot go across the river Ravi to pay obeisance at Gurdwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib where Guru Nanak Dev Ji spent last two decades of his life while teaching results of his philosophical thinking.
