Captain Ready to Rollback its Announcement of Handing Over the Investigation of Behbal Klan Tragedy to CBI?

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—As per reliable sources within the Punjab government, the Chief Minister of Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh might withdraw his decision of handing over the investigation of Kotkapura and Behbal Klan tragedies to the CBI. Sikh24 has learnt that the Punjab government is reconsidering its decision of handing over the investigation to CBI due to the sharp wrath among Sikh masses.

Sources have informed that the Congress led Punjab government has to come across a sharp criticism of its own party men after announcing the decision to hand the over the investigation to the CBI. It is being speculated that the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has almost decided to revert his decision due to which notification in this concern is not being released by the Punjab government.

It is pertinent to note here that the Sarbat Khalsa appointed acting Akal Takht Jathedar Bhai Dhian Singh Mand had also annulled the Captain’s announcement of handing over the investigation of two police firing incidents to CBI. He had announced to continue his struggle till success on the same day of Captain’s announcement.

It has come to fore that accepting the recommendation of Justice Ranjit Singh Commission, the Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh has permitted to sue 10 Police cops, under attempt to murder charges, indicted in an FIR registered in Police station of Bajakhana on October 21, 2015. It is also learnt that the Home Minister has also approved Captain’s move and the file has been sent to Punjab police chief and he might take action on it within a day or two.

It is noteworthy here that under the pressure of SAD-BJP government, the FIR was registered against unnamed Police cops, but Justice Ranjit Singh Commission, in its report submitted to Punjab government on June 30, has exposed the names of all the Police cops involved in opening an unprovoked firing on peacefully protesting Sikhs at Kotkapura and Behbal Klan.

Legal experts have said that the Punjab government is finding itself entangled by recommending attempt to murder charges against the guilty Police cops and handing over the investigation of the murder two Sikh youths at Behbal Klan to the CBI. It is learnt that an FIR couldn’t be bifurcated further due to which the Punjab government would have to change the charges of this FIR section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.

The investigation of this FIR was handed over to the ADGP Hardeep Singh Sahota during the tenure of previous SAD-BJP government but he didn’t take any action on it.
