M/s Haldiram Bhujiawala Apologizes for Misusing Sri Harmandir Sahib’s Photo

NEW DELHI—On being served a legal notice by the DSGMC’s General Secretary S. Manjinder Singh, the snacks maker firm M/s Haldiram Ram Bhujiawala has apologized for misusing Sri Harmandir Sahib’s photo on the cover of one of their snack products. Notably, M/s Haldiram Bhujiawala was served legal notice by S. Manjinder Singh Sirsa on June 25.

“I have been instructed by my client to tender apology for unintentionally and inadvertently hurting religious sentiments of the Sikh community by the use/display of photograph of Shri Harmandir Sahib on the packets of its product” wrote the legal counsel of M/s Haldiram Bhujiawala in an apology sent to S. Manjinder Singh Sirsa.

Portraying M/s Haldiram Bhujiawala as an innocent in this concern, the legal counsel wrote that the decision makers in M/s Haldiram Bhujiawala have great faith in Sikhism but they were not aware of the rules of Sikhism about using photographs of Sikh shrines and the great Sikh masters.

“The Photograph of Shri Harmandir Sahib is displayed only on the packet of 200 gm Kaju Mixture. My client undertakes to stop production of and remove all packaging materials bearing the photograph of Shri Harmandir Sahib, which are in possession of my client” write the legal counsel in apology letter.

It may be recalled here that the SGPC had also served notice to the M/s Haldiram Bhujiwala  in this concern.
