550th Birth Anniversary: SGPC begins three days ‘Khalsa Sports Meet’ at Sultanpur Lodhi

SULTANPUR LODHI—In an attempt encourage students towards Sports and inject sportsmanship in them, a three days ‘Khalsa Sports Meets’ commemorated to the 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was begun by the SGPC at Guru Nanak Stadium of  Sultanpur Lodhi on September 26. The Sport meet was inaugurated by more than 3000 students of 53 schoold by taking out a march past amid presence of SGPC’s Senior Vice President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar, General Secretary Bhai Amarjit Singh Chawla, Executive member S. Kulwant Singh Mannan, Secretary Dr. Roop Singh and former Akali Minister Bibi Upinderjit Kaur.     

 

In his customary speech, the SGPC’s Senior Vice President S. Baldev Singh Qaimpuri said that encouraging the children towards sports to keep them physically and mentally sound was the need of hour. Appreciating the efforts of SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar, he said that such efforts of SGPC will bring positive results in making the children physically and mentally robust. S. Qaimpuri also appealed the sportspersons to live their lives as per the Sikh code of conduct and become baptized.  

SGPC’s General Secretary S. Amarjit Singh Chawla said that this sports meet holds a distinguished importance in the history of SGPC to encourage students towards sports. He added that the sports were mandatory for an intact body and mind.

SGPC Secretary Dr. Roop Singh shed light on the efforts being made by the SGPC to promote Sports and achievements of Sportsmen emerged from these sports meets.
