31-october-soha-soloCHANDIGARH—The Shiromani Akali Dal led Punjab government has relieved the entertainment tax on broadcasting of movie ’31st October’.  The move came after the official meeting between Punjab government and the producer Harry Sachdeva. Notably, the movie  ’31st  October’ was released last week and it has witnessed worldwide trade of Rs. 75 million.

Speaking to Sikh24, Producer Harry Sachdeva informed that he produced the movie to apprise the new generations with the genocide of Sikhs committed by the Indian state following the assassination of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Harry Sachdeva further informed that the movie was shot in village Ghungrana in Ludhiana district by giving it the appearance of old Delhi. He added that some other scenes were also shot in Delhi and Mumbai.

Notably, the Bollywood actors Soha Ali Khan and Veer Dass have played the leading roles of Tajinder Kaur and Davinder Singh in the movie ’31st October’. The movie portrays the sufferings of a Sikh family whose head Davinder Singh got killed by the Hindu mobs during 1984 Sikh genocide.

  1. Well said RS Narang – this is ploy to destroy Sikhims and its identity by portraying history as to what they believe in than what is reality!! worse are the badals who ban movies ask Sukha Jinda and let these movies made by hindu believers go on because they suck up to the RSS and the BJP.

  2. AISSF Opposed the movie & Badal BJP gov. relieved the Ent. tax on movie. There must be some interest of the leaders of this jundli. What is stand of AISSF now? Sikhs don’t have any trust on these leaders.

  3. Please watch these movies with a grain of salt. You have to be very careful how the history is projected. I haven’t seen the movie ( I cannot comment on every thing) but I saw the trailer which has me turned off. One dialogue in there a character states that Sikh religion was created for the protection of Hindu religion. Which is the single biggest lie of all time( I cant think of better word). Sikh religion has its own beliefs but fundamental point (or core point is) is that Sikhs are to defend the human rights of everyone not of one community. Just another historical point Guru Gobind Singh ji fought more wars against Hindu rajahs than the mugals. It is so strange at every level there is attempt to destroy Sikh religion and its identity.
