“We will take strict action against anyone responsible for hurting religious sentiments, even if it means taking action against Aam Aadmi Party leaders,” Sukhbir said during the gathering. He said that strict action will be taken against such culprits. ”Court has already been moved againstAAP MLA Naresh Yadav in Malerkotla Quran sacrilege incident,” he said.
Along with Yadav, anothersenior leader Ashish Khetan has also been booked for hurting Sikh sentiments on complaint of All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) president Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad.
During a rally led by AAPs national convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal at Amritsar on July 3, Khetan compared the Youth Manifesto released on the occasion, with Guru Granth Sahib, Bhagwad Gita and Quran Sharif. His wording was, This manifesto is our Guru Granth Sahib, Gita and Quran, which created controversy. The AAP leader apologized next day, however, Akali leadershave continued to express distress over the statement.
Lashing out at AAP backing the desecration of the Quran in Malerkotla on June 24th, Sukhbir Badal said that AAP was trying to disturb the communal harmony of Punjab for its vested interests. He added that despite stooping to such a low extent AAP will never succeed in dominating 2017s assembly polls.
