Manifesto Row: Kejriwal To Repent At Sri Harmandir Sahib On July 18

2016-07-08_aap_broomNEW DELHI—Aam Aadmi Party’s National Convener and the Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, has decided to remorse at sanctum sanctorum of Sri Harmandir Sahib. Kejriwal will reach the central Sikh shrine on July 18 seeking pardon for unintentionally and inadvertently hurting the Sikh sentiments by publishing AAP’s logo parallel to Sri Harmandir Sahib on its 2017 Youth manifesto.

As per information shared by AAP’s spokesperson Sucha Singh Chhotepur with Sikh24, Kejriwal admitted that his party has unintentionally hurt the Sikh sentiments. “Kejriwal will perform sewa in the Free Community Kitchen (Langar Hall) and will clean shoes at the central Sikh shrine to seek a pardon for the unintentional sin,” Chhotepur told Sikh24.  Dialogue In-charge of AAP from Delhi, Ashish Khetan, who equated the manifesto with Sri Guru Granth Sahib, is also expected to accompany Kejriwal during this visit.

The Akali Dal is however in no mood to accept Kejriwal’s apology.  While the party had in 2013 announced itself as a secular party (as opposed to Panthik party), it is however taking up the issue and presenting it as major sacrilegious case to the Sikh masses.  Parkash Badal, the Punjab Chief Minister, stated that by putting logo of a broom on its manifesto, along with a picture of Sri Harmandir Sahib, the Aam Aadmi Party has committed a major blunder that could not be forgiven.  “As per Sikh tenets, every sinner has to be present before the ‘Panj Pyares’ (five beloved ones of Guru Sahib) to repent for the sin they have committed. Panj Pyares then decide the punishment,” he said.

SGPC president, Avtar Makkar, has already announced to move the court against AAP leaders under blasphemy charges. He said that the sin AAP leaders have committed was unpardonable. However, AAP leaders have also stated that they wouldn’t seek a pardon from Badal and his puppets, instead from the Sikh devotees.

  1. “As per Sikh tenets, every sinner has to be present before the ‘Panj Pyares’ (five beloved ones of Guru Sahib) to repent for the sin they have committed. Panj Pyares then decide the punishment,” Prakash Badal said.’ But your puppet Makkar has decreed the Panj Pyare are nothing more than employees of SGPC and we know the SGPC is subservient to Akali (Ba)Dal. Disgusting, shameful and cynical political ploy of Prakash Badal to try and get sympathies from Sikh sangat for votes. If you are really concerned about hurting Sikh sentiment why has Badal not presented himself for punishment at Darbar Sahib for prancing aboput in his garden without his dastaar to celebrate the Hindu festival of Holi instead of Sikh Hola Mahalla in a year which has seen repeated beadbi of Sri Guru Granth Sahib up and down Punjab? The AAP made very hurtful blunder against Sikh kaum but are ready to atone for it albeit for political reasons of their own. There are burger restaurants in Rome advertising burgers with images of the Darbar Sahib (brought to our attention by Sikhs emigres working in Italy because there was no future for them in Punjab) – what has Badal and his SGPC acolytes done about that? Nothing, because there are no votes in it for these mahants who pretend to be offended when they are readily committing trespasses against Sikhi on daily basis such as Badal clan’s repudiation of Miri Piri principle as one glaring example of their hypocrisy.
