Saintly persons rid others of millions of sins, remove their sufferings, and bestow the gift of spirituality upon them. -Guru Arjan Sahib, Guru Granth Sahib, Page 392

Message: Saintly beings are genuinely concerned about the welfare of others. They guide others by imparting wisdom, which helps people to correct their wrongdoings and to move on to lead exemplary lives. Humble and dedicated, they are role models for uplifting humanity. Their kindness helps the downtrodden and those in need to understand and overcome their suffering and sorrows.

They train, they teach, without expecting anything in return, except the satisfaction of aiding others to move closer to the Divine. They are selfless, a conduit for spiritual wisdom, passing on the knowledge and the word of the Divine.

The purpose of human life is to serve, and to show compassion and the will to help others. -Albert Schweitzer, German Theologian, 1875 – 1965

Etymology: Modified from Sanskrit daatr (gift) → daataar (giver of gifts). Comparable to Latin ditor and Greek dotor (giver, provider)
