AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) today suspended Panj Pyaras of Sri Akal Takht Sahib for summoning ‘Panj Singh Sahiban’.
It also suspended two secretaries and four other employees in connection with this.
The Panj Pyaras consist of Bhai Satnam Singh Khanda, Bhai Major Singh, Bhai Satnam Singh, Bhai Mangal Singh and Bhai Tarlok Singh. They summoned Akal Takht Sahib’s appointed Jathedar Gurbachan Singh and Jathedars of other Takhts to give clarification over the move of pardoning Sirsa based controversial head Gurmeet Ram Rahim.
In the same move, SGPC’s secretaries Roop Singh and Manjit Singh were also suspended for protesting against Jathedar Gurbachan Singh in a function held on Tuesday in Manji Sahib Diwan Hall over the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib.
SPGC’s preachers and Ragis Bhai Karaj Singh, Bhai Harcharan Singh Khalsa, Bhai Harpal Singh and Bhai Surjit Singh were suspended too.
Talking to media persons, SGPC president Avtar Makkar alleged that by taking a such step, Panj Pyaras of Akal Takht Sahib had violated an old tradtion and created confusion in the Panth. “The move has caused big loss to Panthik tradition that cannot be tolerated”, he added.
The suspended Panj Pyaras conducted regular Amrit Sanchars at the highest temporal seat of Sikhs and summoned the Jathedars to present themselves on Oct 23, 2015.

Its very disappointing that such people are leading akal takht. Such people should be bethroned instead. If they will stay khalsa will no more remain khalas. May waheguru punish the guilty at the earliest
