Word Of The Day: Sir

ਸਿਰੁ (sir)
Meaning: noun : head.

Quote:
sakyath su sir jaalap bhaṇai ju sir nivai gur amar nit
Jaalap says – blessed is the head, which bows before Guru Amar Das every day.
– Bhatt Jaalap, Guru Granth Sahib, Page 1394

Message: The head of the devotee can either bow in submission to the positive or the negative, to the Guru or to our egoistic minds. The choice is ours. Complete submission to the Guru with a sense of humility and appreciation and with all sincerity, results in the acceptance of the Guru as our only guide and savior.

This makes the path to success all the more easier as we have no other person to fully surrender to as the Guru is perfect, divine and always reliable in his wisdom. The Guru becomes the pivot of our life like in Jap Ji Sahib:

The Guru alone is Shiva, Vishnu, Brahma, and the goddess Parvati.
-Guru Nanak Sahib, Guru Granth Sahib, Page 01
