Sikh Bodies Appeal for Half Day Punjab Bandh on September 30

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Condemning the Jathedars’ move of pardoning Gurmeet Ram Rahim, various Sikh bodies have collectively appealed the masses in Punjab to observe Punjab Bandh for half day on September 30.  It is noteworthy that the meeting called by various Panthik Jathebandis on September 28 at Sri Amritsar Sahib had concluded up with decision of observing Punjab Bandh on September 30 and calling Sarbat Khalsa on Diwali.

Leaders of various Sikh organizations gathered at Sri Akal Takht Sahib yesterday and tore a letter by appointed Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh explaining the reason behind granting pardon to the Sirsa cult chief.

Speaking with Sikh24, Bhai Mohkam Singh confirmed that the call for Punjab Bandh was given collectively.  He said that all businesses and institutions will remain closed until 2 PM, with the exception of educational infrastructure and hospitals.
