:dateline:Intellectual face of Shiromani Akali Dal and former Punjab minister Manjit Singh Calcutta along with his aides is likely to join the Aam Aadmi Party in coming days. This was indicated by a closed door meeting held on Saturday between them and AAP Punjab convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur.
Chhotepur was in the city to attend bhog ceremony of cable operator Jaswinder Singh Jassi who had committed suicide some days ago after beingvictimized by the Punjab government. During his visit, Chhotepurdirectly met Calcutta in a closed door room. The meeting lasted for an hour and was attended by Calcuttas aides including Pardeep Singh Walia, former close associate ofJathedar Gurcharan Singh Tohra.
Sources said the main agenda of the meeting was to strengthen the party base in Punjab.
On being contacted, Calcutta said that he has been associated with Chhotepur since time of Sant Harchand Singh Longowal, and this was not his first meeting with him. He said Chhotepur met him to discuss about how the future of the party could be brightened.
I spoke to him (Chhotepur) bluntly that on this stage I dont seek any designation in the party. But, I want the Akalis who no longer remain active due to policies of Badal Dal, be brought into this fold (AAP). The efforts should be made in this direction. I want my political aides arefacing tragedy tobe accommodated in AAP so that single family rule could be end,” he ended.
If all those old different parties join AAP, it will loose it value as those leaders who are not given proper consideration, in their own parties, will tarpedo AAP party. AAP needs new leaders who are educated and free from any wrong doing.
“Sant” Harchard Longowal was a traitor to the Sikh cause. He backstabbed Sant Bhindranwale by asking him to take residence in Sri Darbar Sahib while conniving with Congress Government as he knew about upcoming attack.
Rajiv-Longowal Accord the most shameful piece of Legislation the Sikhs ever signed.
