CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Immediately after the release of the Bikrami Calendar, Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh (who was removed by SGPC a few weeks ago) has moved the High Court against the SGPC challenging his illegitimate removal.

Giani Nandgarh’s petition has reportedly being drafted by senior lawyer of the Supreme Court, wherein he raised questions regarding jurisdiction, role in respect of appointment, and the removal of Jathedars of Sikh Takhts with the reference of judgments given by Supreme Court on such disputes.

The petition opposed the decision of his removal taken by SGPC without any probe and considering his point. The former Jathedar also demanded to stay on his removal till the final decision on the petition by the Court.

Hearing on the petition will take place on March 17.
