There are three historical Jujube trees inside Sri Harmandir Sahib. One is at Baba Budha Ji place, second at Dukh Bhanjni and third at Ilachi Beri. The ancient Jujube trees of Dukh Bhanjni deteriorated fully and a new Jujube tree was planted there four decades ago. The age of Jujube tree named Ilachi is expected to be two centuries old. The oldest Jujube tree is at the place of Baba Budha Ji, which is 440 years old. It is also the oldest Jujube tree in India. But the jujubes of this tree are most ripened and the tree is most fruitful among the three. This miracle is attracting the devotees. Firstly the Sikh devotees tried to save the shrubs of these trees from falling by providing supporting iron sticks.

It is noteworthy that SGPC appealed the specialist of Punjab Agriculture University in 2006 and asked them to investigate the reasons for the falling of these trees. At that time 80% of the Jujube trees at place of Baba Budha Ji were dried. The specialist clued that the Jujube trees became victim of dryness due to the coins and Karhah Parsad thrown by the devotees. To save these trees, firstly the dried shrubs were removed by the specialist and then a mixture of Blight Off was sparyed over the trees. Then, the pesticides were killed and the research was begun by taking their sample. According to research, various strategies were used by the specialists to make these trees fruitful.

With the results of above efforts, the Jujube trees became fruitful this year. The specialists said that this not a miracle, instead a result of care. They said that judging the age of these trees is still cumbersome. Where the devotees are explaining it as a miracle, the specialists of Punjab Agriculture University are also saying that this happens in very rare cases.
