AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Jathedar Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh is likely to be sacked on Jan 17 as per the directions of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) president Sukhbir Badal. The speculations have also been endorsed by Dal Khalsa which issued a press statement today in this regard.

SAD (B) leadership is angry over Jathedar Nandgarh’s revolt against the pro-RSS agenda of SAD (B) and SGPC. He did not stand in favour of the original Nanakshahi calendar and also supports Khalistan, endorsing aspirations of the Sikh nation. In view of this stand, SAD and SGPC want to teach a lesson to Jathedar Nandgarh.

In a statement by Dal Khalsa leaders, Satnam Singh Paunta Sahib and Kanwarpal Singh, revealed that on the orders of Sukhbir Badal, the SGPC is all set to remove Jathedar Nanadgarh from the August post at its executive meeting scheduled for Jan 17. The organization also revealed that to remove Jathedar, a signature campaign amongst SGPC executive members was underway.

Informing the media, the Sikh leaders said they had definite and credible information that Sukhbir has instructed his close aides to get the signature of all SGPC executive members in advance seeking their nod for Nanadgarh’s removal. They further said the SGPC has convened its executive committee meeting on Jan 17 to comply with the orders of its political boss.

They further said Sukhbir was hell bent on removing Nandgarh to appease Nanaksar Samparda in particular and Sant Samaj in general as Nandgarh has not only opposed their move to revert the Nanakshai calendar into Bikrami but also accuseddal khalsa logo them of doing so at the behest of the RSS .

They said the Jathedar of Akal Takht and SGPC chief had succumbed under political pressure and had failed to call a spade a spade. They urged Gaini Gurbachan Singh not to take the proposed ouster of his fellow colleague lightly as “tomorrow it could be his turn”.

They cautioned that the removal of Nandgarh would start a storm and the members of executive body of the SGPC including its president would be seen as villains.
