AMBALA, Haryana—On the 50th day of hunger strike, Sri Akal Takht Sahib appointed Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh and Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Jathedar Giani Mal Singh arrived at Gurdwara Lakhnaur Sahib to meet Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa.
As per information availed by press secretary Bhai Gurpreet Singh Guri to Sikh24, while meeting with Bhai Khalsa, Giani Gurbachan Singh expressed deep concern over the deterioration of his health condition and advised he be admitted to hospital which he rejected. Bhai Khalsa said he would be ready for treatment only when his demands are met.
Giani Gurbachan Singh and Giani Mal Singh said to Bhai Khalsa that they were quite serious over the issue of the release of Sikh political prisoners. They said they are making persistent efforts to settle the issue. Along with ‘Sant Samaj’, they have met central home minister Rajnath Singh, Punjab deputy CM Sukhbir Badal and certain important leaders in this regard. They said they would knock on the door of the Supreme Court along with Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee.
Reacting to these statements, Bhai Khalsa said bluntly that if Jathedar really wanted to have Sikh prisoners released, they must order chief minster Parkash Badal to release the Sikh political prisoners jailed in Punjab rather than writing letters to chief ministers of other states. He said Bhai Dilbag Singh, Bhai Sarwan Singh and Bhai Lal Singh Akalgarh are imprisoned in Nabha Jail. Bhai Khalsa said besides Nabha Jail prisoners, Jathedar can even ensure the release of Burail Jail Chandigarh prisoners, namely Bhai Shamsher Singh, Bhai Lakhwinder Singh, and Bhai Gurmeet Singh.
Bhai Khalsa appealed Jathedar that he should give a call to the Sikh nation to go for struggle and lead the struggle himself and if the Punjab government release the Sikh detainees it should launch an agitation along with Jathedar at Delhi.
The personalities who met Bhai Khalsa included Baba Balvir Singh (Budha Dal), Baba Amir Singh, renowned Punjabi singer Harbhajan Mann, United Akali Dal leader Bhai Mohkam Singh.

Badal government is not untested in releasing prisoners who completed their term, otherwise it would have been already released without going on hunger strike. As something in his power are not being released yet.
