Punjab Government to Organize ‘Tourism Police’ in Amritsar to Help Tourists

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Thousands of tourists visiting Sri Harmandir Sahib from abroad can now get assistance from the newly organized ‘Tourism Police’. Constables of ‘Tourism Police’ are highly qualified and specially trained. They are given special training to communicate with language skills. ‘Tourism Police’ will now establish 8 booths in the city to help tourists, and 2 or 3 constables will remain appointed from 6 am to 11 pm to help the tourists. These booths will be established in prominent places like Sri Harmandir Sahib, Railway Station, Airport, Ranjit Avenue, Durgiana Mandir etc. An Inspector ranked official will lead this ‘Tourism Police’ and a total 56 police constables will be taken. All the members of police appointed in this ‘Tourism Police’ are included because of their high intellect and kind nature.

These employees are given special training about hospitality from an organization of Gurdaspur. These highly qualified Police Officials will always remain patrolling the roads. 6 motorcycles have been provided to them for patrolling. These employees are being trained by the Police after their classes from Gurdaspur. They are also given training of foreign languages like Spanish, French etc. These constables will work like a guide for tourists by providing them with helpful information about prominent tourist places. ADCP (Traffic) Sri Dhruman Nimble has informed that ‘Tourism Police’ is fully prepared.

Police Commissioner S. Jatinder Singh Aulakh said that employees of ‘Tourism Police’ will wear common dress and a badge of ‘Tourism Police’ will be fixed on their shoulders. A special help line no. 1073 has also been started to help tourists. ‘Tourism Police’ will start its working after its inauguration program during next week.
