Following the Order of Guru Sahib, Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Withdraws Decision to Shun Water

Bhai Gurbaksh Singh paintingAMBALA, Haryana—Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa, who is observing a hunger strike for the permanent release of Sikh political prisoners languishing in various jails of India, has withdrawn his decision to shun water from Jan 2 following the direction of Guru Granth Sahib.

Bhai Khalsa had announced to shun even drinking water from January 2, but Sikh sangat across the world were requesting him not to do so. Considering the requests, he left his decision upon Sri Guru Granth Sahib saying that whatever the decision of Guru Sahib was, he would accept.

Then, Sikh sangat made two small papers. One was inscribed as ‘is to drink water’ and other was as ‘is not to drink water’. Both the papers were folded and placed before Guru Granth Sahib. After doing Ardas, a child picked one of the papers randomly. That paper was inscribed as ‘is to drink water’. Considering this as direction of Guru, Bhai Khalsa opted to drink water. Sangat raised the slogan of ‘Bole So Nihal-Sat Sri Akal’. Following this, administration felt relief as it was concerned over his critical health condition.
