Bhai Jodh Singh Passes away after 5 years Imprisonment in Beant Assassination Case

Bhai Jodh Singh

NEW DELHI—Khalsa Panth was left in shock this past week following the news of Bhai Jodh Singh’s passing away.  Bhai Jodh Singh passed away on January 25 due to sickness.  He was only 47 years old and had suffered immense torture by the police.

Bhai Jodh Singh had accompanied a number of Gursikhs like Prof. Davinderpal Singh Bhullar, Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara, Bhai Paramjit Singh, Bhai Daya Singh Lahoria, Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu, Bhai Balbir Singh Bains, and many others.  Bhai Jodh Singh was an ex-prisoner in the Beant “Singh” assassination case and was kept at the Tihar Jail.  Even after having spent over 5 years in police custody, he continued his service to the Panth by continuing to visit jailed Gursikhs in New Delhi after his release.

Many Panthik leaders, including Bhai Hawara, Bhai Bhullar, Bhai Bittu, Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema, Bhai Baljit Singh Khalsa, Bibi Sandeep Kaur and others shared their condolences.  Bhai Jodh Singh would always be looked upon as a role for Sikh Youth.  It would be difficult to find another Gursikh of his calibre and moral traits.

Bhai Jodh Singh has left behind his wife Bibi Bhupinder Kaur, one son and two daughters. Bhai Sahib’s final rites will be performed on February 3, at Gurdwara Kalgidhar Singh Sabha, Arya Samaj Road, Uttam Nagar, and New Delhi from 6 AM to 12 pm.
