417th Akal Takht Day: Booklet highlighting importance of the Sikh Temporal Throne Released

On the eve of the 417th foundation day of the supreme Sikh throne Sri Akal Takht Sahib, an introductory booklet highlighting the motive behind the establishment of Sri Akal Takht Sahib was released at Akal Takht Secretariat. This booklet also sheds light on the daily code of conduct prevalent at the supreme Sikh throne besides giving thorough information about Nishan Sahib, Nagara, Amrit Sanchar, historical tamarind tree and holy historical weapons.

It is learned that this booklet has been penned by Bhai Mohan Singh, who served as a granthi at Sri Akal Takht Sahib. It will be distributed free of cost to the sangat.

Published by the Dharam Prachar Committee, SGPC appointed Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh and SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur released this booklet amid presence of other eminent personalities.

While releasing the booklet, Giani Harpreet Singh said that the release of this booklet on the occasion of Foundation Day of Sri Akal Takht Sahib holds importance.

Giani Harpreet Singh said that it was the need of the hour to acquaint the sangat with the history and traditions of the institutions of the Sikh Panth and it was a commendable initiative of the SGPC to continuously publish and freely distribute the literature among the sangat.

Speaking on the occasion, SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur said that besides publishing various historical pamphlets, the SGPC has also intensified its efforts to reprint the best old printed books. “Under this initiative, some books have been reprinted and other important books will be reprinted in future,” she added.

On the occasion of releasing the booklet, SGPC senior vice president Surjit Singh Bhitewad, General Secretary Bhagwant Singh Sialka, member Harjap Singh Sultanwind, Bhai Ajaib Singh Abhayasi, additional secretary. Sukhdev Singh Bhura Kohna, assistant secretary Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, Bhai Malkit Singh, Bhai Sultan Singh, superintendent Malkit Singh Beharwal, honorary secretary, Secretariat, Akal Takht Sahib Gurmeet Singh, OSDs to SGPC president Dr Amrik Singh Latifpur and Dr Sukhbir Singh, former secretary Balwinder Singh Jodrasingha and others were present.
