Jagir ‘Kaur’ cries over protest faced by Sukhbir at Fatehgarh Sahib

Ex-SGPC President Jagir Kaur

FATEHGARH SAHIB, Punjab—Feeling heat of the protest faced by the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD-Badal) president Sukhbir Badal at Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib on Monday, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Jagir ‘Kaur’ today cried over the incident that left the entire Badal faction in an embarrassment.

After the conclusion of Shaheedi Sabha organized at Fatehgarh Sahib there to observe martyrdom of younger Sahibzade of Guru Gobind Singh, Badal was addressing a press conference in the gurdwara, when he was shown black flags by the Sikh youths and farmers. Protestors shouting slogans against him raised the point that the Badals were part of the conspiracy to promulgate three laws to ruin the farmers.

However, Jagir ‘Kaur’ strongly condemned the sloganeering in front of the gurdwara alleging that this was a handiwork of some mischievous people. She demanded from the police to take stern action against those who have committed this act.

In a statement issued here, the SGPC chief said, “It was against the spirit of the Shaheedi Sabha to injure the faith of the sangat which had arrived during the Shaheedi Sabha. The day is attached with the sentiments of the sangat and on this occasion, the sangat remains in a feeling of vairag. Meanwhile, those who pursued political interests by sloganeering should have thought of respecting sahibzade and Mata Gujri Ji.”

SGPC president said that a complaint has been lodged in this matter at the local police station through the manager of Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib.

“The police should identify the people concerned and take strict action against them. No one should be allowed to spoil the atmosphere inside Guru Ghars (gurdwaras)”, added the SGPC president.
