Multani Murder Case: SIT files chargesheet against Sumedh Saini

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—On December 22, the Special Investigation Team probing the Balwant Singh Multani murder case filed a charge sheet against ex-DGP Sumedh Saini under sections 302, 364, 201, 344, 330, 219 and 120-B of IPC. It is learned that the statements of around 47 witnesses have been included in this 500 page chargesheet.

The SIT has included former cops Jagir Singh and Kuldeep Singh as approvers while two other former Sub-Inspectors Anoop Singh and Har Sahai Sharma have been declared innocent.

It is pertinent to note here that two other cops DSP Baldev Singh Saini and Inspector Satvir Singh have already died.

Another accused DSP KIP Singh is in Canada these days and he is expected to return back on January 9. Although the SIT had secured arrest warrants of KIP Singh but later the High Court had put stay on his arrest till January 15 next year.

The Court has already issued notice to Sumedh Saini for appearing on January 22.

It is also learned Sumedh Saini has not filled the bail bond after securing anticipatory bail from the Supreme Court.

Legal experts have revealed that Sumedh Saini can now fill the bail bond at any time as the SIT has filed chargesheet against him.
