AMRITSAR SAHIB: Pro-Punjab activists, academicians, scholars, and religious faces under the banner of Pind Bachao Punjab Bachao have decided to start a special unique mass contact campaign called PUNJAB BACHAO KAFLA from November 1.

The object of the campaign is to initiate and hold dialogue with all the Punjabis regarding the future agenda of Punjab by identifying the main issues in the state.  The Kafla led by Former Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Talwandi Sabo, Giani Kewal Singh, will hold Ardas at Sri Akal Takht Sahib and start the campaign after paying tribute to the martyrs at historic Jallianwala Bagh.

After the meeting of the State Committee of Pind Bachao Punjab Bachao, Giani Kewal Singh in a press meet disclosed the entire plan.

He said, “Punjab is in the thick of the struggle for its existence. Under the extreme centralization of powers, Central Government by way of NIA, UAPA, CAA, NRC, New Education Policy, Labour Laws, Agriculture related three bills and Electricity Amendment bill 2020, has encroached upon and engulfed the powers of the State Governments. Besides, the Center is on a spree to hand over all the assets of the country to the Corporate Houses”.

“Farmers are in the thick of the ultimate do or die struggle and they are getting support from each section of society including dalits, traders, youth, women, singers, artists and various other sections of society. This Kafla while supporting this historical struggle of the farmers, shall try to convert it into the struggle of masses, by way of establishing a dialogue with the wider sections of the people throughout the state”, he said.

The participants divulged that the Kafla shall stay for four days in each district and shall hold dialogue with the public by way of three conferences daily. In the first phase the Kalfla shall enter into dialogue in the districts of Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Pathankot and Taran Taran, the four districts of Majha region.  In the second phase, it shall start from Ferozepur and cover four districts of Malwa.

The leaders stated that the natural resources of Punjab are under unbearable pressure, the young boys and girls are disgusted due to unemployment and law and order situation, they are being pushed forcibly to foreign lands. “The flight of around 1.5 lakh young boys and girls in itself is an indicator of the wave of desertion and ruining of Punjab. Five lakh youth is entangled in the web of intoxicants. Farmers and Workers are resorting to suicide under heavy burden of loans. Workers are not getting jobs”, they asserted.

The traders have been affected extremely adversely by demonetization and GST. Political parties and politicians of Punjab, present or aspiring ones,  have limited themselves to mission 22 alone, they said.

“Therefore it is necessary that the people of Punjab while adopting the principle of universal good, diversity in nature, need to come forward to adopt the path of dialogue enunciated by Guru Nanak Sahib. For this,  the issues like opposing the centralization of powers, supporting federalism by more powers to States, empowerment of people, activating Gram Sabhas and the ward sabhas of the cities, opening of international boundaries for creating environment of trade  by way of friendly relations with the neighbouring countries,  shall be taken up and discussed in the said dialogue”, said the leaders.

They extended invitation and made out a clarion call to all the organizations, clubs, prominent personalities and the people in general to join the Kafla and become active participants in the efforts of tracing the real heirs of Punjab who should own Punjab, struggle and work selflessly for Punjab. The speakers said that by resurrecting the dreams of people of Punjab especially the youth, the Punjabis need to assert ownership rights over Punjab rather than deserting it.

At this occasion apart from Giani Kewal Singh , Dr. Pyara Lal Garg , Advocate Jaswinder Singh, Tarsem Jodhan , Former MLA Punjab,  Kiranjit Kaur Jhunir , Gurmit Kaur,  Dr. Sham Sunder Deepti, Karnail Singh Jakhepal, Prof Manjit Singh, Journalist Jaspal Singh Sidhu, Dr. Khushhal Singh, Dr. Megha Singh and other leaders were also present.
