Notably, Sikh activists have been staging protest in village Longowal for the past 36 days.

On October 27, a Sikh delegation was scheduled to meet SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal but he didn’t come up to meet them.

Interacting with media, the Sikh leaders clarified that the SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal had himself called them for a meeting but left his house without seeing them.

We had come to the SGPC presidents residence to hand over our protest letter to him. Though he had given us time to meet, he left before we reached, said Amritpal Singh Sidhu, Longowal circle president, SAD Amritsar.
