CHANDIGARH, Punjab—On the sacred day of Khalsa Sajna Diwas, renowned Punjabi folk singer Satinder Sartaj has presented Zafarnama, historic letter of Guru Gobind Singh Ji to then Mughal ruler Aurangzeb, from his official YouTube channel. He has sung the original Persian script of Zafarnama.
It is noteworthy here that the Zafarnāma (Punjabi: ਜ਼ਫ਼ਰਨਾਮਾ, Persian: ظفرنامہ, lit. Epistle of Victory) was a spiritual victory letter sent by Guru Gobind Singh in 1705 to the Mughal Emperor of India, Aurangzeb after the Battle of Chamkaur.
Available information reveals that Satinder Sartaj has furnished this project with the help of Iranians Muzaffar Ali and Aziz Mahdi, who work in the Embassy of Iran in New Delhi.
Conceptualized by Sandeep Sharma, the project has been completed with the research assistance of California based Jasjeet Singh and Dr. Mandeep.
In December last year, Kavishari Jatha of Bhai Mehal Singh Ji, Bhai Gurlal Singh Ji and Bhai Jugraj Singh Ji had sung the translated version of Zafarnama in Punjabi.
