Harmandir Sahib Sevadars Ask SGPC to Expand Langar Seva During Coronavirus Shutdown

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—A number of sevadars appointed at Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar have come forward to ask the SGPC to leave no stone turned to help the people impacted by the coronavirus shutdown. In this regard, Giani Jagtar Singh, Giani Mann Singh, Giani Raghbir Singh, and other Granthi sevadars made a joint appeal to the SGPC to expand the initiative to serve langar across the villages of Punjab.

Giani Jagtar Singh, Additional Head Granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib and Giani Mann Singh offered financial support for the langar initiative. They handed cheques to the SGPC Chief Secretary Dr. Roop Singh and Darbar Sahib manager Bhai Mukhtar Singh.

Giani Jagtar Singh said that the SGPC initiative is appreciable for providing langar to the needy people at the time of this crisis. Everybody should cooperate for this work.

Meanwhile, US-based Jarnail Singh Gilzian also donated Rs. 500,000 for the langar initiative. Brother of Jarnail Singh Gilzian, Lakhwinder Singh Lakhi from Tanda, Hoshiarpur, handed over the cheque to SGPC President Gobind Singh Longowal.

On this occasion, SGPC President Gobind Singh Longowal appreciated the financial contribution.

Bhai Longowal told Sikh24 the SGPC is sending langar consistently to the needy people in current crisis. “For this, services are being offered from all the Gurdwaras managed by SGPC. Hundreds of thousands of people are eating langar daily. It is running only with the support of sangat,” Bhai Longowal said.
