Protests against CAA: BJP ruled UP, Karnataka bans mass gatherings by imposing CrPC 144

NEW DELHI, India—Amid ongoing countrywide protests against the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act, the BJP ruled Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka state governments have banned assembly of four or more than four persons by imposing Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Uttar Pradesh DGP OP Singh has shared the development over twitter and has suggested “parents are also requested to counsel their children”.

It is pertinent to note here that countrywide protests are being witnessed after the non-secular Citizenship Amendment Act came into effect with the signatures of Indian President Ram Nath Kovind.

As per an estimate, protests in around 10 cities have been planned by the common masses for today.
