US Congresswoman introduces bill to name Houston’s post office after Deputy Sandeep Singh Dhaliwal

HOUSTON, Texas—On December 6, Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher introduced a legislation in the US Congress to name a Houston’s post office after the name of Sikh police officer Sandeep Singh Dhaliwal. Notably, Deputy Sandeep Singh Dhaliwal had sacrificed his life while serving in the US police on September 27.

Introducing the bill, Lizzie Fletcher said that Deputy Sandeep Singh Dhaliwal perfectly represented the US community while serving for equality, connection and community through his life, so the post office located at 315 Addicks Howell Road in Houston should be named as “Deputy Sandeep Singh Dhaliwal Post Office”.

“The Deputy Sandeep Singh Dhaliwal Post Office will serve as a permanent reminder of his service, his sacrifice, and his example for us all,” she said while adding that she is honored to be able to recognize Deputy Dhaliwal in this way, and look forward to working with all of my Texas colleagues to pass this legislation quickly.

“Today, I was honored to introduce a bill to name a post office in west Houston for Deputy Sandeep Singh Dhaliwal, the first Sikh police officer to serve in the Harris County Sheriff’s Office while maintaining his articles of faith,” Lizzie Fletcher wrote on her Facebook wall.
