Innocent Sikh students forced to perform “Aarti of Lakshmi Mata” in Delhi

NEW DELHI, India—A video of school students performing “Aarti of Lakshmi Mata” in Mata Jai Kaur Public School (Ashok Vihar, Delhi) as per Hindu traditions on the eve of Diwali has gone viral over social media. The management of this school has come under fire for forcing the students to perform rituals which are against the ethos of their inherent religion as majority of these students hail from Sikh families.

  1. Shame on people sharing it and making it viril, no one forces any one to do such kind of thing. Being a non Sikh even we were supposed to do Ardas every morning in school ang collage.

  2. No one force… It’s just an activity done in class… Some people make it a political issue… Why these type of people play with children emotions…. Its an amazing school which teach kids love, humanity and sharing.. Stop these politics plz … Spare these little kids from dirty politics

  3. Article written in extreme poor taste. We sikhs are supposed to be an antonym to racism. People like you bring shame to our beautiful religion.

    • Totally biased, incorrect and disgusting way how the writer has presented this. It was an act of praying which was not forceful and should not be painted in religious + political tones. Shame on the writer… without you guys this world will definitely be a better place to live.

    • Agree fully. I have studied in this school all my schooling. The school management is most secular
Its a wonderful school. This article is written in extremely poor taste. Do not try to undermine this school and Sikhism. We stand for moral and secular values. Proud to be a student of mata jai kaur public school.
