Sukhbir Badal accuses Congress MLAs of sheltering drug peddlers by taking monthly protection fee

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—On October 10, the Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Badal accused Congress legislators of sheltering drug peddlers at the cost of a monthly protection fee. He made this accusation while campaigning in favor of Manpreet Singh Ayali for Dakha constituency’s by-poll.

Taking on the Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh, Sukhbir Badal said that before elections Captain had taken an oath to wipe out the drug menace from Punjab but the Drug menace has rather increased during his regime. He added that the drug peddlers have no fear of law because of political patronage in Captain’s reign.

“There is no control of the Chief Minister or the DGP on the state. Even a minister does not know where he can meet the CM. People are suffering as their issues are not being addressed,” he further said.

“A person, who can take a false oath in the name of Almighty Lord, cannot be expected to fulfill his promises towards common masses,” he said while accusing Congress of oppressing Sikhs.
