Online poll brings shock for the plaintiffs of Hindi, Hindu and Hindustan

NEW DELHI, India—On September 14, the Indian Home Minister Amit Shah had given a call to make Hindi, the unifying language of India, by taking it to every individual and home and using it in every aspect of life. However, he had immediately come under fire for his statement sledgehammering people’s right to speak and preach their mother tongue.

On September 16, a Facebook page being run by the supporters of mainstream Indian journalist named Arnab Goswami has created a poll over social media in which he has sought the opinion of his followers about Hindi as a national language while questioning “Do you support Hindi for National Language?”. This poll will last for five days.

Out of the total 134.3 casted votes, 83% voters have rejected to support Hindi for National Language. Only 17% voters have voted in favor of Hindi.
