Police claims plan to kill Mohinder Pal Bittu was chalked out in October last year; All the arrested Sikh youths sent to Nabha jail

PATIALA, Punjab—After nine days long police remand, all the five Sikh youths namely Bhai Gursewak Singh, Bhai Maninder Singh, Bhai Lakhvir Singh, Bhai Harpreet Singh and Bhai Jaspreet Singh arrested in the murder case of sacrilege culprit Mohinder Pal Bittu were produced before the local Court on July 1.

It is learnt that the Patiala police once again sought extension in the police remand of these Sikh youths, but the strong arguments by the defense lawyers SS Grewal and Jaspal Singh Manjhpur didn’t let the police succeed in its motive. Finally, the Court sent all of these Sikh youths to judicial custody in the Maximum Security Jail of Nabha till July 12.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the police have claimed that the plan to kill sacrilege culprit Mohinder Pal Bittu was chalked out by the Sikh youth Jaspreet Singh in October last year, who is already facing murder charges for punishing another sacrilege culprit Balwinder “Kaur” guilty of committing sacrilege in the Ghawaddi village of Ludhiana.

The Police’s story says that Jaspreet Singh conceived and finalized the plan to kill Mohinder Pal Bittu with Maninder Singh and Gursewak Singh in October last year while sitting at New Nabha Jail’s Gurdwara Sahib. On December 4, Bittu was shifted from New Nabha Jail to Faridkot jail. Jaspreet Singh was also shifted to the Maximum Security Jail, Nabha, leaving behind Maninder Singh and Gursewak Singh in New Nabha Jail.

In January this year, Bittu was brought back to New Nabha Jail from Faridkot jail. During this, Gursewak Singh went on parole and returned back in mid-May.

Finally, Sikh youths Maninder Singh and Gursewak Singh punished the sacrilege culprit Mohinder Pal Bittu for his sins with an iron rod on June 22. Bhai Lakhvir Singh alias Lakha is accused of thrashing Mohinder Pal Bittu with a wooden stick.
