Indian army to dig 200 meter long tunnel in snow coagulated near Sri Hemkunt Sahib

RISHIKESH, Uttarakhand—To facilitate the hassle free pilgrimage to the pilgrims, the Indian military cops are going to make a tunnel in the snow coagulated on the pathway leading to hilly Sikh shrine Sri Hemkunt Sahib. The Engineering Core wing of the Indian military has taken this decision keeping in view the ten meter thick layer of snow coagulated around the shrine.

Sharing the development with media, Sewa Singh, the manager of Gurdwara Gobind Ghat, informed that the three kilometers long pathway leading to Sri Hemkunt Sahib from Atlakoti is covered with snow. “To commute the pilgrims to Sri Hemkunt Sahib, a 200 meter long and 5 meter wide tunnel will be built,” he added.

Manager Sewa Singh further informed that the pilgrims will have to go through the tunnel only for a few days after the opening of gates on June 1 and the normal pathway will become active as the snow melts.
