Sam Pitroda Apologizes for “Hua to Hua” Remark on 1984 Sikh Genocide

NEW DELHI, India—Senior Congress leader Sam Pitroda, who is under fire for his objectionable wording on the 1984 Sikh genocide, has apologized by claiming that he was not so fluent in Hindi so couldn’t convey the exact wording he wanted to say. He has said that he wanted to say “Jo Hua Wo Bura Hua” but he couldn’t translate the word “Bura” in his mind and uttered in hurry “Hua to Hua”.

It is pertinent to note here that even the Congress has stepped back from favoring Sam Pitroda after his controversial statement. Sam Pitroda is facing immense political heat after justifying the 1984 Sikh genocide.

“I think what Sam Pitroda Ji said is completely out of line and he should apologize for it. I think 1984 was a needless tragedy that caused tremendous pain,” wrote the national president of Congress Rahul Gandhi in a Facebook post on May 10.

He further wrote, “I think justice has to be done. The people who were responsible for the 1984 tragedy have to be punished. The Former PM, Manmohan Singh Ji has apologized. My mother, Sonia Gandhi Ji has apologized. We all have made our position very clear – that 1984 was a terrible tragedy and should never have happened”.
