SYFB Opposes Supreme Court’s Biased Verdict Permitting Transfer of Arrested Sikh Youths to Delhi

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Bhai Ranjit Singh Damdami Taksal, the vice president of Sikh Youth Federation Bhindranwala, has strongly opposed the Supreme Court’s biased verdict allowing transfer of the arrested Sikh youths to Delhi. He has said that the Supreme Court’s recent verdict has once again made the Sikhs feel as third class citizens in India.

Speaking to Sikh24, Bhai Ranjit Singh Damdami Taksal said that the Indian state is playing double game with the Sikhs. On one side, it claims of quashing the black list of Sikhs but on the other hand the Sikh youths are being subjected to excesses. “A Supreme Court bench is accepting the NIA’s request within 30 seconds without giving any chance to the defense lawyers to speak out. So, what could be worse than it for the Sikhs living in India,” he said.

It may be recalled here that the Supreme Court bench of judges Arun Mishra and Navin had pronounced a biased verdict against the arrested Sikh youths Jaggi Johal, Ramandeep Singh Bagga, Hardeep Singh Shera and others on May 7. On the request of NIA, the Supreme Court had permitted transfer of the arrested Sikh youths to Delhi within 30 seconds and the Defense lawyer Colin Gonsalves was not allowed to speak anything.
