Darshani Deodi Demolition: Finally, SGPC Openly Favors Baba Jagtar Singh

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—After playing a high pitched drama of attempting action against the Kaar Sewa sect head Baba Jagtar Singh for demolishing the historic Darshani Deodi, the apex Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee has finally ensured Baba Jagtar Singh that the SGPC will favor him in any situation. With this, no uncertainty has been left about the mutual understanding between the SGPC and the Kaar Sewa sect to demolish the historic Darshani Deodi of Gurdwara Sri Tarn Taran Sahib.

SGPC officials including its president Gobind Singh Longowal reportedly underwent meeting with the Kaar Sewa sect head Baba Jagtar Singh on April 20. Khadoor Sahib based Kaar Sewa sect head Baba Sewa Singh, Baba Avtar Singh Sur Singh Wale, SGPC general secretary Gurbachan Singh Karmuwala and SGPC’s additional secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhoora Kohna were also present in this meeting.

A video available with Sikh24 depicts the Kaar Sewa sect expressing its anger against the SGPC. Interestingly, the SGPC general secretary Gurbachan Singh Karmuwala could be listened ensuring Baba Jagtar Singh that they will side him ignoring whatsoever people say.

It may be recalled here that the SGPC had initially accused Baba Jagtar Singh for the whole blunder and had appointed a committee to probe the demolition of historic Darshani Deodi. This probe committee had recommended police complaint against Baba Jagtar Singh but the SGPC couldn’t do so due to pressure by other Kaar Sewa sects and seminaries.

Also, the Kaar sewa sect as well as the Manager of Gurdwara Sri Tarn Taran Sahib was not intimated about the decision taken by the SGPC in October last year about pausing of the resolution #550.

Meanwhile, the peaceful sit-in-strike of Sikh leader Karam Singh Bhoian continues beneath the demolished Darshani Deodi of Gurdwara Sri Tarn Taran Sahib. The mass support to his struggle is getting robust and is expected to touch a new peak in upcoming days as the mutual consent between the SGPC and Kaar Sewa sect head to demolish the Darshani Deodi has finally come to fore.
