Political Sikh Prisoner Bhai Gursewak Singh Babla Once Again Arrested by Delhi Police

NEW DELHI, India—Exactly two years after playing a high drama of arresting a “dreaded terrorist”, the Delhi police has once again arrested political Sikh prisoner Gursewak Singh Babla on March 13. As usual, the mainstream Indian media outlets are projecting his arrest as a big achievement of the police by relating Bhai Gursewak Singh Babla with Khalistan Commando Force which is defunct for more than last two decades.

As per sources, Bhai Gursewak Singh Babla didn’t ever work with the Khalistan Commando Force even when he was battling in armed way against the Indian state during the pre-1984 and post-1984 period. During the pre-1984 period, he was close to the great Sikh of 20th century Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Bhindranwale while after the 1984’s holocaust he was working with Sikh militant Bhai Jarnail Singh Halwara who was a staunch opponent of the Khalistan Commando Force as its chief Sukhdev Singh alias Sukha Sipahi alias “General” Labh Singh had back-stabbed the Sikh militant Bhai Gurinder Singh Bhola, who was very close to Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale.

Report published by a fanatic Indian newspaper Jagbani on its front page on March 14, 2019

A report by radical pro-Hindutva newspaper Jagbani claims that Bhai Gursewak Singh Babla was involved in murdering its fanatic editor Ramesh Chandar on May 12, 1984. However, the Police records reveal that he was never named in the FIR registered by the Police in relation to Ramesh Chandar’s murder.

Bhai Harjinder Singh, a former AISSF activist, told Sikh24 that Bhai Gursewak Singh Babla was not involved in Ramesh Chandar’s murder, but he was definitely a part of the Bhai Jarnail Singh Halwara’s group which played a key role in getting the Sikh militants Bhai Gurinder Singh Bhola, Bhai Swaranjit Singh Aladinpur and Bhai Sukhdev Singh alias Sukha Sipahi liberated from Jalandhar Courts on April 5, 1986 by organizing an armed attack in collaboration with Bhai Manbir Singh Chaheru’s group. “Trio of them were brought in Jalandhar Courts in Ramesh Chandar murder case along with Bhai Daljit Singh Bodu who didn’t run as his parents had come to meet him there,” he added.

Sources have informed that the Delhi police has arrested Bhai Gursewak Singh Babla after being directed by the Court as he couldn’t attend the Court hearings of the cases in which he was implicated by the police.

It is pertinent to note here that Bhai Gursewak Singh Babla was released in 2011 following more than two decades long imprisonment.

  1. Another example of double standards of justice being followed by ruling Governments and police. They can’t charge and arrest the guilty Hindutava leaders involved in innocent killings of minorities. But they can arrest Sikhs second time even after completing 20 year jail sentence on different false charges. Why can’t they arrest even once the guilty Hindutava leaders involved in killing thousands of innocents belonging to minorities ?
